PDA Panda Party Celebrates Awareness and Inclusion

By Clair Hill - May 15th, 2025 | Posted in Article

We were thrilled to welcome students, parents, carers, and siblings to both of our Satellite sites for PDA Panda Parties in celebration of PDA Day. The event was a fantastic opportunity to come together, learn, and have fun while building greater awareness and understanding of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).

PDA is a profile on the autism spectrum that involves extreme avoidance of everyday demands, often driven by high anxiety. By raising awareness, we help ensure that everyone with PDA receives the support and understanding they need to thrive.

The day was themed around the PDA Panda, a symbol of the importance of tailoring environments to meet individual needs. Families explored the P-A-N-D-A mnemonic, which highlights effective strategies:

  • P – Pick battles
  • A – Anxiety management
  • N – Negotiation and collaboration
  • D – Disguise demands
  • A – Adaptation
