Establishing and developing relationships with parents and carers is a central part of our philosophy. Our vision of linking hands to enable children to reach their full potential includes parents and professionals as an integral part to this. Children learn best when the school and parents work together and we therefore value the contribution that parents make to our school and endeavour to provide as many effective opportunities for parents to be involved as possible.
We like to keep parents fully aware of what is happening, both in respect of their child’s progress and also what is happening within the school community. We do this in the following ways:
• an Annual Review meeting with time for discussion regarding the things that are important to your child’s continuing progress.
• termly meetings with teachers and therapists to discuss your child’s individual education plan and holistic goals as well as progress through the curriculum.
• information meetings on bespoke topics
• informal coffee mornings
• parent workshops with a particular emphasis on effective learning strategies
• a weekly newsletter
• the Home School Book
Parents also have opportunity to part of the Parent Futures Group. This is a group of parents that meet termly with the head teacher and parent lead to discuss and involve themselves in aspects of school development. Parents have had a huge input into developing child centred EHCP’s, supporting new families to the school and developing access to digital training for parents through this group.
