The pupils achieved great success in the field of dance this week. This should come as no surprise to those who remember we won the London Youth Games in 2022 with our mixed KS3 and KS4 Dance Troupe.
This time our dancers had the opportunity to perform in front a live audience. The Sutton Schools Sports Partnership succeeded in hosting the first live Dance Competition at Sutton High School. The line-up of schools included Oaks Park, Cheam High, Carshalton Girls, Nonsuch, Carew Academy and Sutton High School.
We entered a dance group in both the KS3 and KS4 competitions. KS3 were coached by Alex and Magda and performed to Rihanna’s hit song “Shut Up and Drive”. They were warmly supported by a crowd of up to 80 students who cheered them
on. They won their category and were asked by a cheering audience for an encore. It was a wonderful moment for the students who had been so nervous beforehand. KS4 were coached by Liam C and performed to Backstreet Boys’ “Everybody”. They too were very nervous but got up and performed admirably. Again, the crowd were amazing as they clapped and sang along to our dancers. In the end they beat the competition to win their category as well! We are now hoping to find out when the all-London finals will be. Congratulations to the dancers and their coaches who have all worked so well for their success.
