Consultation Questions and Answers

Q1. Where is the location of the satellite site (the Cottage)?

The address for the cottage is 3 Carew Manor Cottages, Church Road, Wallington. Surrey SM6 7NH.

Here is a site plan with the Cottage shown in yellow.

Q2. How will the Cottage be accessed as it gets busy down Church Road?

The Cottage will be accessed via the main Carew School entrance. We will be having different start and finish times to the Carew School (see Q.11).

Q3. How much space is at the Cottage?

The Cottage will have capacity for up to 12 young people and staff. There will be outdoor space and additional classrooms

Q4. Will the current PDA site be kept?

The current PDA site at Wallington Primary Academy will remain for primary age pupils

Q5. Will the children going to the Cottage have priority to stay there? Will the children need to move again? Can we have assurance?

Yes, the secondary age pupils transferring after half term have priority to stay at the cottage. It is not our intention to move the children unless it is right for child to do so for their ongoing education.

Q6. What will happen to the Year 6 pupils on the current site?

There will be options for the current year 6’s but we cannot give a definitive answer. The possible options are that they can access a space at the Secondary PDA annex, or the Cottage if one of the children from there decides to move to Secondary site provision. There is also a possible opportunity to use another small OHCAT owned property that is housed near to the Primary and Secondary sites.

Q7. How will we be kept updated on progress and communication in general?

We communicate to all families via The Link School newsletter and updates on the website. And should there be any specific updates the Head of the School will provide these as before.

Q8. Will parents and children be able to see the cottage before the end of half term?

It is our intention to provide an opportunity for children and families to visit the site before the end of half term. We will advise families nearer the time

Q9. Can the Cottage students access the Link Sec main site for vocational provision or qualifications?

If this is appropriate for the individual child, we will make these arrangements

Q10. Do we have to apply for transport again?

Yes, you will need to contact the local authority regarding your child’s transport

Q11. What will be the start and finish time for the Cottage?

The start time will be the same as the present times- 9.15 am start and 3.00pm pick up. We can be flexible for parents that need this e.g. for a parent that may have a child on different sites with the same pick-up time.

Q12. What will be the name of the new site? It would be good to have ‘secondary’ in the name.

We don’t have a name agreed yet, we are calling it The Cottage as that is what it is currently called. But we will discuss with the pupils!

Q13. Will the site be ready for the children to attend after half term?

We are working hard to meet this timeline, and we will continue to keep families updated.
