Careers Talk by Former Pupil Kelly Hutchings

We were delighted to welcome back former student of The Link, Kelly Hutchings, who came in to visit the students of Rowsell class at the Secondary Site. Kelly, who is now 31, left the school in 2011 and has been working at Ikea in Croydon for the past 8 years. Kelly shared with Rowsell class the various college courses
she completed after leaving The Link, which included hair and beauty at Carshalton College and catering at Croydon College. After completing a work experience course with Marks and Spencer, she applied for the job at Ikea and was successful. Kelly explained how she worked in the soft furnishings section before moving onto the bed department and finally into her current role in the children’s area. Kelly described helping people find things in her department, putting items on the shelves and even helping a very cross customer feel better!
