I am the Chair of Governors of The Link School. I believe passionately that each child should be given every chance to maximise their potential. That is why I am hugely supportive of all the great work that is done at the school in helping the young people to achieve their goals.
I first joined the governing body as a parent governor in 2021 after my son, George, became a pupil at the Primary school. Having gained 3 years of governor experience (including as vice-chair of governors in my third year), I was then elected to the role of Chair of Governors with effect from September 2025. As my son has now progressed to the secondary school I remain invested in the school not only as a governor but also as a parent. I have spent much time at the school establishing trusted relationships with staff.
My career background is in the law. I am a qualified solicitor with many years of experience, being a partner in a firm of solicitors in the City of London and working mainly in the field of commercial disputes.
After a career in research, I trained as a teacher and spent 25 fulfilling and happy years as a teacher of Chemistry and Head of Department in a Croydon school. Since retiring four years ago I have continued my interest in education by becoming a volunteer at Holly Lodge Educational Centre in Richmond Park. This is a unique small charity in the heart of Richmond Park, offering educational programmes that explore science, nature and history, specialising in activities for young people with special needs. I enjoy leading activities in the Victorian classroom and exploring the nature trail and park with the young children. Every group is different and presents me with new challenges.
As a governor I would be continuing my commitment to helping young people with special needs and utilising my experience of school management to enable the school to progress and develop, as it faces new challenges.
