The Link School provide a quality education for children and young people aged 4 to 18 with speech, language and communication needs including autistic spectrum conditions and Pathological Demand Avoidance. We aim to put every child at the centre of their learning so that they can celebrate strengths and overcome their barriers. We aim for learners to develop high self-esteem and confidence and the ability to understand and value others.
At The Link School, safeguarding is central to our ethos and underpins our VIVA values. We are committed to ensuring that every child and young person feels Valued, knowing that their voice is heard and their well‑being is prioritised. We foster an Inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated, barriers are reduced, and all learners feel safe to express who they are. Through robust safeguarding practices and a vigilant, caring culture, we strive to ensure every pupil recognises themselves as Valuable, worthy of protection, respect and opportunity. By working closely with families, professionals and the wider community, we create the conditions for our learners to feel secure, supported and ready to be Achieving, both academically and personally. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and our commitment ensures pupils can thrive and flourish throughout their journey at The Link School.
Every child is important and we are ambitious for their education. We aim to guide and support their learning enabling them to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes that recognise and fill gaps in understanding and move learners forward. The foundations set for life- long learning prepare our children and young people well for a positive future.
Learners follow a pathway system from school entry which enables them to work alongside peers with similar needs and to benefit from specialist strategies to match their learning needs. In the Secondary department a range of appropriate accredited courses are offered to match their given pathway, including pre-entry and entry qualifications – functional skills and B Tech.
Academic learning is complimented through a joint educational and therapeutic model of support. The school has its own therapy team, comprising of Speech and Language therapists, Occupational therapists and a School Counsellor who work towards helping young people overcome their barriers so they are in a place to learn continuously and make the most of opportunities offered.
As a team we strive for excellence in all areas, working to be the best that we can be for our children and young people who deserve the absolute best we can offer.
Visits to our school are encouraged and welcomed. We would be delighted to show you around our wonderful school.
